High-Speed Line Hanover-Berlin
This line with a total length of 258 km was put entirely into operation in the end of 1998. The line is divided into a 68 km long upgraded line between Hanover and Oebisfelde (east of Wolfsburg) and an adjacent new line between Oebisfelde and Berlin-Staaken. Large sections of the line can be run at a maximum speed of 250 km/h.
A total of 45 voestalpine BWG turnouts with a speed of 130 km/h (few 160 km/h) in the branch track were installed in the new line, 27 thereof on slab track. This was the first time that clothoid turnouts were installed in Germany at a large scale.
ICE Line Cologne-Rhine/Main
The 180 km long high-speed line, which was put into operation in summer 2002, was the first line exclusively designed for the (passenger) high-speed traffic. Distinctive features of the line are the traffic infrastructure bundling with the Autobahn A3, gradients of up to 40 per mil and tight curves with a steep superelevation. The application of a slab track superstructure (type Rheda) over almost the entire length is considered one of the major technical innovations.
With its turnout technology adjusted to these specific conditions voestalpine BWG created a proven system which set new technical standards and is now in service worldwide.
voestalpine BWG delivered a total of 58 turnouts for this line. 37 of them are installed in slab track.
High-Speed Line Nuremberg-Ingolstadt
The regular service on the ca. 89 km long line with many tunnels started almost 12 years after breaking ground.
The superstructure is designed completely as slab track with the exception of the platform tracks and the access tracks to the new line sections Nuremberg and Ingolstadt. For the slab track the systems Rheda 2000®, pre-fabricated slabs of Max Bögl as well as Rheda classic in trough construction were used.
voestalpine BWG contributed to this highly engineered line a total of 26 high-speed turnouts, thereof 16 installed in slab track.
