Quiet City Transport (QCITY)

Project within the 6th EU framework.

According to a EU directive cities lager than 250.000 inhabitants have to generate noise maps by 2007 (cities lager than 100000 inhabitants by 2010) leading to action plans to manage noise issues and effects emerging from the mapping.

In order to support the cities in implementing the necessary actions the EU project Q-City will provide possible solutions to reduce the noise emission of urban traffic.

Concerning railway traffic problems like squeal noise, noise caused by turnouts and crossings, rolling noise, noise emitted by bridges, etc… will be addressed and verified.
