Basic Research:
Damage of rail surface

Development of load dependent residual stresses in rails

Process Optimization:
Mechanical properties of rails by non destructive testing
Optimization of the hardening process
Continuous optimization of rail testing devices

New Product Developement:
The Bainitic Rail
Development of high strength perlitic rail grades

Track Tests:
Multiple track tests in the net of DB and ÖBB
These track tests are important to benchmark the advantage of new developed rail grades subjected to different loading conditions (e.g. heavy haul, high speed traffic, mixed traffic…).
