voestalpine Schienen GmbH produces rails of highest quality and is well-known world-wide as technology leader.

Among all rail producers, our full assortment of more than 100 rail sections is by far the world’s widest product portfolio. Practically, 100 % of customer demands can be fulfilled.

One part of it are ultra-long rails with a weld-free rolling and supply length of 120m. As a worldwide trendsetter of innovative rail technology, voestalpine started in 1990 to market weld-free long rails. And this was also the starter of a continuous demand boom. With two fully computerized long rail stockyards/loading facilities, we can supply to customers just-in-time on a 7 days 24 hours base directly to the job site.

All rail sections and lengths can be delivered on demand also in fine pearlitic head hardened HSH^® steel grades. HSH^® rails achieve significant longer service life compared to standard carbon rails. They are made for highly stressed applications.

The self-developed HSH^® technology is proprietary to voestalpine Schienen. At the beginning of 2009 we have replaced the existing facility by a new rail heat treatment facility with the highest performance worldwide. It allows us not only to produce head hardened HSH^® rails on very large industrial scale. Even short-term large orders can now be fulfilled without delays and - depending on the wishes of the customer – of course in ultra-long 120 m size.

With the new facility we enter into a new era for rails:

The future belongs to a new generation of heat-treated rails delivering peak performances for every type of rail transportation while staying affordable for all customers, owing to the fact they can be produced in virtually any volume with consistently topmost quality.

A new era for rails: heat-treated premium quality

Additionally to vignole rails for railways, we produce a comprehensive set of grooved rails for use in streetcar systems - also in the worldwide uniquely also in HSH^® head hardened steel grades. Using state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technology, we bend these rails according to customer’s requirements and deliver them ready for installation to the construction site.

By means of special software tools which have been developed on the basis of our own knowhow, we can assist our railway and public transport customers to implement and optimize lifecycle-cost strategies. This includes in particular a LCC-optimized product selection. For this purpose a comparison of technical alternatives can be performed on the basis of customer-own data, thus enabling the concrete calculation of savings potentials.
