Perhaps the most impressive trains in the world are operating on heavy haul tracks. A total train weight of nearly 100.000 tons was achieved on a record-making railway trip in Australia. The length of the 8 locomotives and the 682 ore cars reached a total of 7,3 km. Standard rail steel grades are virtually blown away by such extremes.
The best rails with extreme resistance toward abrasive wear and convincing life-cycle costs are just good enough to meet such requirements.
Heavy haul rails from our HSH®-family such as with grade 370 LHT, or on request also enhanced with carbon (UHC) for an even higher hardness, constitute a sustainable effective solution and consequently are used worldwide by numerous customers.
