With the delivery of a total of 147 turnouts for vmax 300/160 km/ including elastic base plates and Rheda 2000® sleepers as well as 16 rail expansion joints for the in total 345 km long high-speed line connecting the north and south of Taiwan reducing the travel time to only 90 minutes voestalpine Turnout Technology Germany also demonstrated its competency around the turnout on an international platform.
Since more than 80% of this slab track line are situated on viaducts and in tunnels the geographical conditions made great demands on the technical, logistical and coordinative competences of all companies involved.
In this challenging project the scope of supply of voestalpine Turnout Technology Germany comprised beyond the mere product supply the supply and installation of the mechanical control system components , the supply, installation and connection of the turnout monitoring system VAE Roadmaster 2000, consulting and supervision in the fields of pre-assembly, logistics and installation as well as inspection and maintenance within the scope of the commissioning. The quality management and the trouble-free long-term operation of the turnouts, of which a local service base takes care for the time being, belong likewise to the scope of services of this mega project.
The services in the field of the turnout logistics within Taiwan have to be pointed out in particular since the highly sensible turnout components with a length of up to 55 m and a weight of 55 t could only be transported on the roads from Kaohsiung port to the respective construction site.
For the installation of the turnouts on the bridges height differences from the road to the viaducts of up to 30 m had to be mastered.
voestalpine Turnout Technology Germany is still today proud of its significant participation in the successful construction of one of the most comprehensive and demanding high-speed lines worldwide which was finally put into operation in January 2007.
