Forming aids

Perfectly formed in a few process steps

Optimized steel for improved forming and additional benefits. Steel can be bent into the most diverse and complex shapes. This usually requires intensive pretreatment. With the additional treatments of voestalpine, the steel is already optimally prepared for forming. There are other advantages too.

Phosphate coating

The properties of the conversion layer make phosphating highly important in metal processing technologies. The phosphate layer adheres very well to the metallic substrate. It has a microporous and microcapillary surface that simplifies the adhesion of coatings on the surface.

  • Microporous and microcapillary surface
  • High level of corrosion protection
  • Best lubrication and forming properties
  • Low tool wear
  • Less galling, lower processing costs

dryform, the dry forming aid

dryform is a dry forming aid for hot-dip galvanized or electrogalvanized steel strip with excellent forming and good corrosion protection properties. Typical applications are found in the tube and section industry as well as in the household appliance industry.

  • Environmental compatible and sustainable based on 100% chromium-free coating technology
  • Alternative to common corrosion protection and forming oils
  • Significantly improved lubrication and forming properties
  • Advantages of dry, evenly distributed and transparent surface: No oil redistribution, clean processes (occupational safety)
  • Good corrosion protection (transport and storage)

multiface® is the all-rounder

The multiface® coating is 1 to 2 µm thick and is a multifunctional, almost invisible sealant (thin organic coating = TOC) on hot-dip galvanized steel strip (Z, ZM) with excellent corrosion protection properties and direct powder coating capabilities.

  • High level of environmental compatibility and sustainability
  • Free from CrVI and CrIII
  • Free from heavy metals
  • Reduced down to three process steps
  • Alkaline resistance during processing and application
  • Excellent anti-fingerprint properties
  • Direct powder coating possible
  • Excellent atmospheric corrosion protection (corrosion protection classes C1 and C2, DIN EN ISO 12944-2)
  •  Dry formability
  • Joinability (spot welding and adhesive suitability, foam adhesion)

Direct cost savings through reduced number of process steps (oiling, degreasing, rinsing + drying)

When using steel strip coated with multiface®, the oiled part must not be degreased, rinsed or dried. The direct formability and excellent adhesive properties of the material make it possible to directly powder-coat or adhesive-bond the material after deep-drawing. This substantially reduces the processing costs.
