{"id":199,"date":"2018-06-18T09:37:02","date_gmt":"2018-06-18T09:37:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/voestalpine.com\/metsec\/about\/ce-marking\/steelwork-contractor-responsibilities\/"},"modified":"2018-07-13T13:11:20","modified_gmt":"2018-07-13T13:11:20","slug":"steelwork-contractor-responsibilities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.voestalpine.com\/metsec\/about\/ce-marking\/steelwork-contractor-responsibilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Steelwork Contractor Responsibilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3295 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/metsec-company.staging.superdreamdev.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/ce_marking-300x211.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.voestalpine.com\/metsec\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/ce_marking-300x211.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.voestalpine.com\/metsec\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/ce_marking-768x540.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.voestalpine.com\/metsec\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/ce_marking-1024x720.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.voestalpine.com\/metsec\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/ce_marking.jpg 1885w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In order to be able to CE mark the fabricated structural steelwork that they produce, steelwork contractors are required to declare performance to the system 2+ level of assessment.<\/p>\n<p>This requires them to undertake:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li>Initial type-testing of the product<\/li>\n<li>Factory Production Control (FPC), which will include:\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li>Implementation of FPC system procedures<\/li>\n<li>Appointment of a responsible welding coordinator (RWC)<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of welding quality management system (WQMS) procedures<\/li>\n<li>Further testing of samples taken at the factory in accordance with the prescribed test plan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They must also be assessed by the notified body that will carry out:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li>Initial inspection of the manufacturing plant<\/li>\n<li>Initial inspection of the FPC<\/li>\n<li>Continuous surveillance, assessment and approval of the FPC, which will typically include:\n<ul class=\"disc\">\n<li>An annual audit to ensure continued competence to the declared Execution Class (Table B.3 of BS EN 1090-1 sets out minimum levels for routine surveillance intervals).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The notified body will then issue an FPC certificate and welding certificate identifying the Execution Class that the steelwork contractor has achieved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In order to be able to CE mark the fabricated structural steelwork that they produce, steelwork contractors are required to declare performance to the system 2+ level of assessment.
