Uddeholm Carmo is a prehardened, medium-alloyed tool steel designed for short to medium production runs in cold work applications where high chipping resistance is critical. Delivered at a hardness of 240–270 HB, it enables short tool-making lead times and cost-efficient production while ensuring safe and consistent performance. Its prehardened condition simplifies flame, induction, or laser hardening, and its high reliability makes it ideal for severe cold work environments with a high risk of chipping. Uddeholm Carmo also helps reduce maintenance and downtime costs by minimizing premature failures, ultimately boosting productivity. Additionally, it offers good weldability, with matching welding electrodes readily available.
