    POWDER DEVELOPMENT

    Our Additive Manufacturing metal powders are developed and manufactured by the global steel market leaders BÖHLER and UDDEHOLM in dedicated powder manufacturing plants in Kapfenberg (Austria) and Hagfors (Sweden).

    Drawing on our long history of producing high quality alloy steels for the Aerospace, Oil & Gas, and Automotive industries, we ensure our AM powders are manufactured to the highest quality standards and designed perform at the highest levels of performance.

    We do more than just produce AM powders. Our test laboratories design our powders specifically for 3D printing at our voestalpine Additive Manufacturing Centers and for use by our customers in a range of OEM printing systems.

    POWDER PRODUCTION

    Our Additive Manufacturing metal powders are produced from the highest quality raw materials produced in our own European steel mills, ensuring full traceability through the manufacturing process.

    Our powders are produced using latest vacuum induction melting and atomization techniques, with analysis and testing performed in-house at our state of the art metallurgical laboratories.

    POWDER PORTFOLIO

    Our material portfolio goes beyond standard material grades commonly used in Additive Manufacturing applications. We develop dedicated high performance steel and nickel alloy materials for use in specific industry applications such as High Pressure Die Castingand Plastic Injection Molding.

    All of our AM powders are available in particle size ranges to suit both Laser Powder Bed (15-45μm) and Laser Powder Deposition (45-90μm) technologies.

     

    UDDEHOLM AM CORRAX

    The ultimate choice for tools where superior corrosion resistance and high hardness are needed. These properties makes it suitable demanding applications such as molds for medical parts, and corrosive plastics such as PVC.

    This material has excellent polishability, which makes it the ideal choice for 3D printed Plastic Injection Molding tooling inserts.

    AM CORRAX

    BÖHLER AMPO M789

    Patent

    A newly developed maraging steel, which combines the mechanical properties of 1.2709 with the corrosion resistance of 17-4PH. This grade can easily printed without any preheating.

    This material has excellent polishability, which makes it the ideal choice for 3D printed Plastic Injection Molding tooling inserts.

    BÖHLER AMPO W360

    Patent

    The powder equivalent of the W360 ISOBLOC. Due to its chemical composition, the material belongs to the product group of premium hot work tool steels.

    This material has high temperature wear resistance, heat resistance and toughness, making it an excellent choice for 3D printed High Pressure Die Casting tooling inserts and an alternative to H11 & H13.

    BÖHLER AMPO E185

    Patent

    Low alloyed steel with easy printability. Allows the possibility for surface treatments (e.g. case hardening or nitriding) was developed especially for the demands of the 3D printing industry.

    The material shows an excellent combination of strength and toughness.

    Precipitation hardening nickel martensitic steel (17-4 PH). This material has excellent corrosion resistance and can be printed easily without additional heating of the platform or chamber.
