ALZEN® 305 is a white bronze alloy (zinc-copper-aluminum) specially developed by voestalpine. Compared to bronze and other alloys, it is characterized by high wear resistance, excellent sliding properties and the versatile application and machining possibilities. Another - certainly convincing - argument are the excellent emergency running properties.

The advantages at a glance

  • Longer service life and high wear resistance
  • Price advantages due to low specific weight
  • Very good machinability, higher cutting speeds, shorter machining times
  • No heat treatment necessary after machining
  • Very good sliding, running and emergency running properties
  • Better embedding properties
  • Higher thermal conductivity
  • Better damping capacity, therefore quieter
  • Better wettability with lubricants
  • Low friction value largely avoids "stick slip effect
  • Stable price (independent of copper and tin market)

Areas of application

Well-known companies from demanding industries ranging from mechanical engineering, the automotive, construction and stone industries to agriculture and forestry rely on ALZEN® from voestalpine. They use ALZEN® for a wide variety of products. The range extends from rods, bushings, tubes, and sheets to plain bearings, sliding elements, spindle nuts, worm gears, sealing rings, roller bearing cages, and hydraulic parts.

  • As bars, bushings or sheets

  • Cut to length with machining allowances
  • e.g. with thread
  • According to customer drawing
  • With tightest tolerances

Machining options

The excellent machinability compared to Cu-based bearing metals is a particular advantage. ALZEN® is very well suited for the following machining operations:

  • Sawing
  • Milling
  • Gear cutting
  • drilling
  • Bright turning
  • Polishing
  • Reaming
  • Pulling in
  • Pressing in and on
  • Shrinking on

Application notes

  • The mating material should be at least 15 HRC harder
  • Grease or oil well during assembly - no special oils or greases are required
  • The installation clearance must be adapted to the operating conditions
  • Can only be used to a limited extent under the influence of chemically aggressive media
