A system innovation is taking high bay warehouse specialist voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik into the digital world.

voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik GmbH has set itself the multiple challenges of making system racks of 40 meters in height and above easier to construct without reducing their reliability, as well as accelerating project execution times and producing more of the required materials at its own site.

“Building block” system

Digitalization is also a solution for reaching these goals. In future, end-to-end, consistent digitalization will be extended to cover structural and construction design, workshop planning and machine data, through to the final high bay warehouse. “Developing a logical and optimized system of components for rack frames—effectively building blocks for high bay warehouses—is the first important step towards digitalization,” explains Peter Häckel, Head of Innovation Management. This “building block” system, in which each real part is available in digital form, is the first step towards achieving the company’s goals.

The system is not only optimized for lightweight construction, but also extends vertical integration for system rack parts at the site in Krems. In addition, it fulfils the demands of further digitalization. “Because automatic engineering is only possible when we have a logical design language—and this will make us faster and more competitive in future.”
