Four participants from three continents: the new voestalpine high mobility pool is more international than ever.
Brazil, China, Canada, and Mexico: these are the countries of origin of those participants for whom a new phase of their life began in January. André Padilha Penteado (Brazil), Xingxie Wu (China), Irene Coughlin (Canada), and José Samuel Ramirez Torres (Mexico) qualified from among more than 500 applicants from around the world to participate in the High Mobility Pool Program 2013 (HMP). In the next two years, the new HMP members will be assisting voestalpine companies worldwide within the scope of various projects.
The greeting of the participants at the first “Homecoming Days” in late May in Linz by Wolfgang Eder, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of voestalpine, emphasized how important the program is for voestalpine.
“As part of the Group’s internationalization strategy, the search for participants was once again expanded geographically. After focusing on Europe in 2011, we searched for suitable candidates in close cooperation with local Group companies in China, Brazil, North America, and Europe, which provided major assistance,” said Uta Stockbauer-Schröder, who is responsible for the high mobility pool. Managers and divisional HR staff chose the new participants in a selection process that went through multiple stages.
The objective of the HMP program is that the participants get to know the great diversity of the voestalpine Group before they take a permanent position in a Group company after the end of the program. That is why the participants will be working not only at different locations but will be dealing with various topics, tasks, and responsibilities. “The high mobility pool is a fantastic resource for the company. The participants are highly qualified, already have international experience, and are extremely motivated to do outstanding work during the six-month-long projects,” Stockbauer-Schröder emphasized. Due to the joint recruiting process, there was a positive secondary effect for the voestalpine companies, as some applicants who did not get into the program were interesting candidates for other positions and companies.
