This investment is the voestalpine subsidiary’s response to the increasing demands of the rail industry, and is designed to raise the company’s production capacity in Germany. The company has around 800 employees in Germany, and about 250 of them work at the Butzbach site. Each year the company produces over 1,500 complete turnouts for railway infrastructure projects worldwide.

- Long-distance transport (turnouts for the high-speed and mixed traffic sectors)
- Suburban traffic (trams, transit and underground systems)
- Industry and port railways
Customers throughout the world benefit from the company’s product portfolio and competences. In addition to manufacturing turnouts and concrete sleepers, the company offers a comprehensive range of services including planning, logistics support, advice on turnout installation, as well as integrated maintenance (measurements, inspection, grinding, and welding).
Latest technologies for greater efficiency
With the acquisition of two new Rottler milling machines, voestalpine BWG GmbH is again investing in the future of its production operations in Germany. The combination of machines at both the Butzbach and Brandenburg sites ensures greater efficiency and the ability to meet increased demand for special turnouts. The aim is also to reduce maintenance costs and to increase product quality further. Designed on a modular basis, the machines incorporate state-of-the-art technological components. Their modular construction also simplifies machine maintenance and minimizes downtime. Servicing can be undertaken on an ongoing basis with no appreciable stoppages in production.
