voestalpine VAE Group companies are exhibiting their solutions in turnouts and complete systems at InnoTrans 2014 in Berlin.
InnoTrans, the world’s largest international trade fair for transport technology, will take place in Berlin from September 23 to 26, 2014. In addition to rail technology (voestalpine Schienen GmbH), voestalpine will be represented by the voestalpine VAE Group, with solutions for turnouts and complete systems.
voestalpine VAE GmbH is the global market leader in turnouts and associated systems, whether in the high-speed, heavy haul, or light railways sector. The voestalpine VAE Group has 40 manufacturing and sales centers worldwide with a staff of around 5,000 employees. The following voestalpine VAE Group companies will be exhibiting at InnoTrans 2014 in Berlin: voestalpine Weichensysteme GmbH, voestalpine SIGNALING Group, voestalpine BWG GmbH, Weichenwerk Wörth GmbH, TSFA, and JEZ.
Focus on system solutions and lifecycle strategies
The key segments covered by the voestalpine VAE Group at InnoTrans 2014 will be:
- Tailor-made system solutions: having started with its core product, turnouts, the voestalpine VAE Group is now specialized in developing highly technical complete systems, i.e., turnout systems with signaling technology components, monitoring and control systems, and concrete sleepers. The pre-assembled modules are then delivered by special freight cars to the construction site on a just-in-time basis.
- Lifecycle strategies: voestalpine VAE guides and supports its customers through the entire turnout lifecycle: from measuring the site, advising on construction, transport, installation support, (initial) turnouts service, turnout grinding, and through to taking back and recycling old turnouts.
Range of services offered by the voestalpine VAE Group
The voestalpine VAE Group offers a comprehensive range of products in this strategic area, which will be presented at InnoTrans. The range of services includes:
Vignol turnout systems: voestalpine VAE develops and produces Vignol turnouts, crossovers, slips, diamond crossings, rail movement joints, and complete layouts (station installations, turnout groups, depots) in accordance with international standards and particular customer requirements. In principal, all systems are available in every type of rail profile, geometry, and required gauge.
Turnout systems for light railways: turnout systems for light railways are especially economical and durable. Lifecycle-cost optimized products guarantee maximum availability, reliability, ease of maintenance, and low installation, replacement, and non-operating times.
High-speed turnouts: these turnouts for high-speed tracks permit speeds of up to 380 km/h, and turn-off speeds of over 200 km/h.
Heavy haul turnout systems: the VAE Group also offers special solutions in the heavy haul sector, capable of managing axle loads of up to 40 tons, annual total track loads way over 350 million tons, and challenging environmental conditions. Safety, availability, and economic efficiency for the customer are all particularly important in this sector.
Service: voestalpine products are accompanied through their entire lifecycle, from planning, maintenance, and right through to recycling.
Point operating, locking, and surveillance technology, as well as signaling, diagnostic, and monitoring technology: the voestalpine SIGNALING Group is a one-stop-shop for solutions in setting systems and signaling technology, as well as highly sophisticated diagnostic and monitoring facilities.
Tailor-made turnout sleeper solutions: voestalpine VAE also produces turnout sleeper solutions for both inner-city traffic and mainline tracks in a wide variety of applications, both in Europe and beyond.

New voestalpine corporate design
The voestalpine Group is marking the consistent implementation of its strategy and its changing self-image by updating its visual identity: its transformation from a European steel company to a global technology and capital goods group is now also being mirrored in its corporate design. The new visual identity combines tradition with future expectations, and increasingly symbolizes dynamism and a focus on the future.
