At the end of July, the newest Steel Division subsidiary, voestalpine Steel Service Center Romania, started up production in Giurgiu (Romania).
After 23 months of construction, and successfully overcoming several stumbling blocks, voestalpine Steel Service Center Romania started up production operations. The new center has an overall useable floor space of 9000 square meters where, thanks to multi-blanking technology, blanks can be cut into various shapes, such as variable trapezoids, parallelograms and arch shapes.
The voestalpine Steel Service Center Group specializes in processing high-precision slit strip, cut sheet, and cut shape from high-quality hot-rolled, cold-rolled and surface-coated thin sheets. The new mill in Romania has been designed for a capacity of 100,000 tons.
