The strategy compendium “Our Digital Journey” sets out our vision for digitalization in the High Performance Metals Division. With the video of the same name, we effectively now have the film of the book.

“It’s all about data,” is how the film starts, and the “main actor” has a prominent role: the recordings made in the plants at Hagfors, Wetzlar, Kapfenberg, and at the voestalpine Additive Manufacturing Center in Düsseldorf, are enriched with dynamic infographics and indicate the potentials inherent in the processes and are just waiting to be realized.

Digitalization strategy: “rethink and innovate”

“The primary target group is clearly our employees,” explains Michael Eder, Global Chief Digital Officer at voestalpine High Performance Metals GmbH, “but naturally we are also aiming at an external audience, because we need to attract talent with new skills to ensure a successful digital transformation.” The film “rethink and innovate” describes the digitalization strategy: how we can rethink the existing situation and use new technologies to create innovative products and business models. And conversely, “Where can digitalization help us, and how do we tackle it?” summarizes Eder. “Because if we don’t do it, others will. We want to actively shape our future, rather than being forced to react at a later date.”
