In the coming year, a development and test center for additive manufacturing will be set up at Areal Böhler in Düsseldorf. This Special Steel Division project is a cooperation between voestalpine Edelstahl, Böhler Edelstahl and Uddeholm.
At a press conference in Düsseldorf in September 2015, CEO Wolfgang Eder announced the latest voestalpine/Special Steel Division future project. Put simply, it is a project for 3D printing of metal parts. More precisely, metal additive manufacturing is a process in which parts are built by laying down successive layers of material based on digital 3D design data. Extremely complex forms are possible and they are produced without material loss.
At Areal Böhler, a development and test center is being set up in the next few months for metal powders used to manufacture parts for various applications in the automotive industry, aerospace industry and more.
