Experiences from voestalpine Rotec Inc. in the implementation process of a Certification at voestalpine Texas LLC: For this purpose, experts from various voestalpine companies came together in Lafayette.

End of December 2015 a meeting took place in Lafayette (Indiana, USA), in order to share knowledge with regards to the Environmental Management Standard ISO at voestalpine Rotec Inc.. The purpose behind this meeting was to assist voestalpine Texas LLC (Portland) with the implementation of its Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001.

The two-day meeting was attended by Andrew Ball (Managing Director) and Levi James (Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator) et al from voestalpine Rotec Inc.  Gabriel Chapa (Quality Control Laboratory) from the voestalpine Texas LLC in Portland, who is currently working with Howard Hayden (Laboratory/Environmental Supervisor) on implementing the Environmental Management System in Texas was also present at the meeting. Supporting Gabriel Chapa with their Linzer know-how, Harald Zwirner’s (Environment Auditor, Department of Management Systems, voestalpine Steel GmbH) and Christoph Huber (Environment Division, voestalpine Stahl GmbH) were attending.

Andrew Ball, James Levi and their ISO-Team gave a detailed introduced to their program, demonstrating the profitable results of a positive Environmental Management System in daily operations. “Regulated operation flow and improvement programs in waste management in conjunction with employee training, create transparency and efficiency”, agreed Huber and Zwirner.

Real life integration of this management system by voestalpine Rotec Inc. into daily business, was also communicated in the breakfast production meetings, in which all important decision makers were present. Visitors from Linz and Texas were especially impressed by the clarity of the meeting on the current market situation and production, as well as the meeting dynamics and prompt decision making.
