In the prestressing steel sector, we supply prestressing 7-wire strands to meet the most demanding customer requirements. Using an integrated production chain allows us to provide the continuous quality inspections and product traceability needed.

With our prestressing products we are a reliable partner to our customers in the railway infrastructure, construction, energy and precast concrete industries. Our prestressing 7-wire strands are used in products including preloaded prefabricated parts, in bridge construction, as rock anchors, for large containers, or in hoisting technology for lifting heavy loads.

Our prestressing 7-wire strands are supplied with cross-sectional areas ranging from 52 mm² to 150 mm², depending on customer requirements, and with smooth or profiled surfaces. Compacted prestressing 7-wire strands have a cross-sectional area of 165 mm². All strands exhibit very low relaxation.

voestalpine Wire Technology also manufactures a variety of rod dimensions with plastic sheathing. They can be oiled, galvanized, greased or waxed for additional corrosion resistance. Due to their excellent properties, these products are suited for a wide variety of uses.

    Advantages of the compacted strand compared to standard strand

    • + 18 % more steel crosssection for the same outer strand diameter
    • + 13 % higher nominal breaking load and 3% smaller outer diameter compared to strand 150mm2 - 1770 N/mm2
    • + 8 % higher breaking load and 3% smaller outer diameter compared to strand 150mm2 - 1860N/mm2
    • More effective anchoring, due to higher grip-area of wedges
    • Lower surface pressure on HDPE-duct in deflection area, with applicaton of unbounded tendons
