Synthetic Sleepers for the Track
VAE Synthetic Sleepers installed in tunnel
The VAE synthetic sleeper is used in the running, non-ballasted permanent way for reducing structure- and air-borne noise and vibrations, for instance in metros, in highly populated areas or on bridges because of the low weight.
The synthetic sleeper is sheathed with rubber, so-called rubber boots, and put into the track bearing structure which in turn is separated from the remaining concrete sub-structures in respect of vibrations by roofing plates.
The synthetic sleepers are made from foamed polyurethane and have a hard-fiber core. 2 metal inserts hold the threads for the fastening bolts.
The fastening plates for the rails are directly bolted to the sleepers, which in turn guarantees high gauge precision.
Advantages
- Noise and vibration absorbing
- Excellent electrical insulating properties
- High gauge precision
- Low weight and height
- Long service life
- High resistance to the effects of temperature, moisture and chemicals
- Environmentally friendly manufacture without chlorinated hydrocarbons
- No elimination of harmful vapours (as is the case with impregnated sleepers)
