INSERT MN13

Partial block crossing with high-manganese steel MN13 insert

The point of the crossing and the overrunning area of the wing rails are cast in one piece (insert) of high-manganese steel.
The supporting surfaces and fitting areas as well as the complete running edges and surfaces are milled. The closure rails are machined at the head and foot in the front area.
At the distance blocks, the wing rails made from the standard rail section are bolted to the closure rails and the insert.
In the area of the inserts, the distance blocks are cast together with the point.

Advantages

  • Can be thermit welded into the track
  • No open bolted joints
  • Excellent wear resistance due to work-hardening process of AMS
  • Optimized wheel transfer conditions
  • Guaranteed exchangeability
  • Excellent elasticity due to the bolted composite structure
  • Built-up and repair welding possible without pre-heating
  • Suitable for all types of rail fastenings
  • Reduced maintenance, particularly for high axle loads because the running surface can be pre-hardened
