Overview

VAE is the worlds largest specialised trackwork designer, developer and manufacturer.

VAE Railway Systems Pty Ltd is the Australian subsidiary of the VAE Group with its headquarters in Austria. As a part of this world wide group, we provide financially competitive, technically appropriate packaged solutions for all rail types.

Our competitive edge in our market comes from being able to develop better product solutions for our customers’ problems. We do this by fostering a high degree of local technical competence based on the support of our European Head Office. Of course this would not be sufficient if it were not combined with a conscious effort to provide a cost effective, quality product together with competent, knowledgeable pre- and post-sale service.

VAE Railway Systems Pty Ltd, formerly the family owned Mackay Foundry formed in 1955, has been a wholly owned part of the world-wide VAE GmbH group since May 1990.

Based in Austria, with subsidiaries in 18 countries across the world, VAE GmbH is the world leader in high tech railway trackwork technology, contributing to the success of VAE Railway Systems by:

• Transfer of high tech know-how to Australia
• Major investments in updated plant and machinery
• Streamlining of the workshop for better efficiency
• Training of the workforce
• Quality assurance accreditation to ISO 9001
• Technical service and support Australia wide

Our customer base is spread across the whole of Australia, from State railway systems and private railroads to mining companies, sugar mills, contractors, construction companies and consultants. Our product range and capabilities service the needs of Australia’s dedicated heavy haul railways, its mixed freight and passenger lines, rural and urban, as well as specific requirements of the New Zealand and certain South-east Asian Markets.

We provide a wide range of trackwork, primarily aimed at our customers’ desire for higher axle loads, higher speeds and reduced life cycle costs.
