Built-up Crossings

Point of the crossing (crossing vee)

The point of the crossing is manufactured mechanically from rolled rail sections, rolled slabs or composite material. Appropriate distance blocks are welded to the point.
The closure rails or guard rails for obtuse crossings are machined from rolled rail sections and connected to the point by flash-butt welding.
The wing rails (or the joggled rails for obtuse crossings) are also made from rolled rail sections, machined and then bolted to the completely welded point using distance blocks.

Advantages

  • All types of crossings are possible, like
    - common crossing
    - obtuse crossing
    - multiple and special crossings
  • Excellent elasticity due to bolted design – these crossings perfectly adapt to the elastic behaviour of the track
  • No specific tools and patterns required – therefore economical even in small numbers
  • The service life can be extended by surface welding in track
  • Installed crossings can be “bent“ – therefore particularly suited for all types of curved turnouts
  • Guaranteed exchangeability
  • Can be thermite welded into the track
