The Phoenix MB system can identify all bearing types and braking systems used in international railways at speeds of up to 500 km/h and reliably detects hazardous conditions. In addition to being affordable, the system is modular, providing for rapid and low-cost maintenance. The core component of the system is an infrared optical sensor which conducts
multiple row-scans (hence, MB = Multi-Beam) of the bogie at widths of up to 120 mm. The system has an integrated signal processor for fast and accurate processing of measured values.
All axle bearing types up to a maximum width of 120mm are accurately
identified by multiple scanning using eight measurement points. This technology
offers extraordinary flexibility to accommodate future developments in axle
design.
The multiple measurement in eight independent segments offers a high
degree of failsafe operation.
