HYDROLINK®

Cross-over T/O 60-500, equipped with HYDROLINK® and IS2000

The hydraulic force transmission system HYDROLINK® represents an innovative further development of conventional mechanical roddings.
Based on our experience and tradition of more than 155 years as turnout manufacturer and our excellent partnership with our customers we invented the HYDROLINK® system. This system has the same functionality as a mechanical rodding.
Furthermore, it contains a lot of additional advantages. Due to the left out of the outside mounted mechanical roddings, it´s no longer necessary to keep the space free so the stability of the turnout is enlarged. Also mechanical tamping wouldn´t be influenced.
Therefore, all force transmission components are positioned in the mittle of the sleepers and the setting rods are substituted by a hydraulic force transmission system.

Conventional, laterally positioned mechanical rods for transmission of setting movement

All components are well-chosen and the functional design garanties maximum availability and on the other hand longest inspection and maintenance intervalls. These lead to optimised Life cycle costs (LCC) and to highest efficiency of the system.

HYDROLINK® was developed for turnouts up to 3 setting levels in the switch device or to combine switch device and a moveable point frog in smaller turnouts, driven by one point machine.
In principle, there are no alterations of the drive system, the locking system and the existing safety system required because only the mechanical rodding will be replaced.
Only in the case of combining switch device and moveable point frog, for the moveable frog an end position detector has to be installed.

HYDROLINK® substitutes mechanical connection rods

Operating mode
HYDROLINK® functions in such a way that pressure is built up in the drive cylinder which is connected to the first lock. This pressure is then transmitted via pipes to the second and third locking points or to the moveable point frog and acts on the setting cylinder which is equally connected to the lock. Due to the compact design all components can be integrated inside the hollow steel sleepers.

The volume changes of the hydraulic oil caused by daily or seasonal temperature changes are compensated by a parallel connected storing unit.

Advantages

  • No mechanical connecting rods between operating points
  • No readjustment necessary or stress due to temperature changes from the setting system
  • No unbalanced load of the vibrating superstructure caused by the mechanical transmission rods (asymmetrically masses)
  • Fewer individual mechanical parts and encapsulated design and therefore, extremely low inspection and maintenance
  • Easy to install, maintain and repair
  • Does not hinder tamping
  • No noise caused by vibrations
  • Small space requirement
  • Light weight
  • Pre-assembly in the plant on assembled turnouts
  • Compatible with various drives and locking systems
  • Suitable for retro-fitting of installed turnouts
  • Optimised Life Cycle Cost (LCC)
  • Lifetime lubrication
