Drastically changing conditions for railways, e.g. the increase of private and national traffic on the lines or the splitting up of national railways into various private companies with different tasks, necessitate the use of localised diagnostic systems for rolling stock.
On the one hand, damages to infrastructure can be prevented and, on the other hand, resulting strains of the infrastructure can be determined to the quality of rolling stock and, thus, to prices for using lines. Furthermore, the increase of speeds and the guaranteed availability of lines require early identification of upcoming hazards caused by the rolling stock in order to prevent damages or dangers by respective actions. VAE Eisenbahnsysteme GmbH has been engaging in this topic since 1988 and has continuously been widening its assortment of diagnostic facilities based on required know-how. By now, we have developed into one of the leading companies in this field and are able to realise installations all over the world. Since 2004 we have been in close contact with SST who have specialised in such systems.
