The point of the crossing is cast from high-manganese steel, the supporting surfaces and fitting areas as well as the running edges and surfaces are milled.
The high-manganese steel point and the closure rails are welded together using the flash-butt welding process (intermediate piece welding) patented by VAE and proven worldwide. These welds are subjected to ultrasonic tests.
In the area of the crossing point block, the distance blocks are cast together with the point, while in the remaining area they are placed as distance blocks between the rails.
The wing rails are made from rolled high-manganese steel in the overrunning area. In the area in front of the entry flangeway, they are welded to a standard rail (intermediate piece welding).
The rails are bolted to the crossing point block and the closure rails at each distance block.
