Every year, 1.5 million tons of pig iron from the blast furnace are converted into high-quality steel using 2 converters. This is Donawitz performance!

With the investment “compact steel mill” we have extraordinarily succeeded in combining intact environment with economical steel production.
By encapsulating the converters during blowing the environment is effectively protected against waste gas pollution. Elaborate waste gas and de-dusting systems ensure the legally stipulated emission reduction.


And the environment is able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Following a complicated cleaning process the converter waste gas is utilised for energy recovery – a decisive contribution to progressive energy policy and active environmental protection.
