Countless students and graduates make a start at voestalpine − in many different ways. Valuable insights into the world of business can be gained during internships, student jobs and traineeships, as well as from theses.

The links between universities (national and international) and voestalpine go back many decades. Many of our employees teach at technical high schools or universities all over the world as lecturers or professors. The link between academic and practical knowledge, amongst many things, is a promoter of innovation.

This is clearly evident from the numerous students who are about to take their diploma or are in the process of writing their thesis, who find a wide variety of work assignments at voestalpine. These work assignments range from carrying out scientific studies to solving legal problems. Some win technical research grants. Some of the current topics on offer can be found in our theses "market-place". If the work is of outstanding quality and the results are applied, the researchers can win awards and subsequently great acclaim. But you also get something priceless: an insight into one of the world's most profitable and exciting steel companies.

Many who get to know us at voestalpine during their studies return to us later. They either step straight from the academic world into the business world or they sign up to one of our trainee programmes. Through "training on the job" they get to know the various departments in the company, make contacts in the "network" and gain an insight into company structures. Trainee programmes are advertised under "vacancies".

Our "high mobility pool" can open up a high performing career path. University and polytechnic graduates with one to three years professional experience can take part in this superb international development programme. They can gain experience of the company's five divisions within two years. Despite the different backgrounds, companies and countries, you meet up with colleagues through a structured exchange of experiences. Your horizons are widened by involvement in numerous projects and activities. There are simply no limits – geographical or professional – to this programme.
