As an innovative technology and capital goods group, voestalpine is a close and efficient partner to the automotive industry globally, taking part in the NAACAM Show in South Africa
Mobile South Africa
NAACAM, the National Association of Automotive Components and Allied Manufacturers of South Africa, organized a trade show and conference focusing on the automotive supplies industry which was held in Durban, from April 5 to 7, 2017.
South Africa is regarded as an excellent location for the automotive industry and has a long tradition of automotive assembly and components production. In the period 2014 to 2015 alone, automotive supplies from the EU to South Africa grew by 25%, to a record value of EUR 1.7 billion.
Lighter, tougher, more durable
voestalpine products can be found in almost all automotive components, whether car bodies, drives, safety components, or tires. Together with the Metal Forming Division, the Steel Division presented convincing voestalpine solutions for the automotive industry at the NAACAM show.
During the BY 2015/16 the voestalpine Steel Division generated around 37% of its revenue in the automotive industry. The greatest growth in demand was for high-strength voestalpine steels for lightweight construction using phs technology (phs-ultraform® and phs-directform®), electrical steel for drive chains and actuators (isovac®), and our ultra high-strength steels with unique forming properties (ahss high-ductility).
