First ship enters port in Texas

The MV Lone, a heavy-lift vessel measuring 160 meters in length, is the first ship to dock at the new voestalpine port in Texas.

The ship arrived in Texas after 14 days of travel, delivering its cargo of two ore unloaders shipped from Bremen.

Due to their massive size, the ore cranes were transported in parts and will be assembled on-site. They measure up to 73 m in height, weigh 900 tons each, and are among the most powerful cranes ever produced by the company Ardelt in Eberswalde, Germany.

Once assembled, the two powerhouses will take care of unloading incoming ore freighters and ensure swift turn round of pellets.
