Joining hands for higher success rates

The procurement of plant systems, services and materials each year is an important way to leverage more cost savings and achieve more sustainable profits. For this reason we have introduced a centralized steerage function in order to coordinate all purchasing activities within the division. This makes it possible for us to bundle demands and achieve synergistic effects for the benefit of our customers. Our focus is always on optimizing total costs.

Our mission

The purchasing department is responsible for classical purchasing activities that include, among other things, procurement market research, invitations to tender, the solicitation of quotations and order processing (see the purchasing processes in the figure).

Our organization

Divisional purchasing is part of the Finance organization of voestalpine Stahl GmbH and consists of three departments:

  • Production Plant Systems, Auxiliary Production Systems, Package Units, IT and Telecommunications
  • Construction, Steel Structures, Cranes, Services
  • Raw and auxiliary materials, direct and indirect material, maintenance-repair operations

Our purchasing coordinators

As a centralized addition to our procurement activities, we have appointed purchasing coordinators. They are a link between us and our customers, the production departments at voestalpine Stahl GmbH and the respective subsidiary companies. The channel demands, complaints and proposals to us and inform the individual departments of new developments, guidelines and policy changes in purchasing.
