Our high-quality heavy plates are improved even further through subsequent heat treatment in the form of normalizing annealing. Creep-resistant and cryogenic pressure vessel steels and high-strength fine-grained steels are treated in heat treating furnaces and subsequently in a water-quenching unit. The rolled plates are heated during normalizing annealing to approximately 900°C and subsequently air-cooled. The treatment provides plates with large thicknesses with a more homogeneous and fine-grained microstructure with improved mechanical properties than in as-rolled condition.
