Of all energy sources, natural gas produces the least atmospheric pollution and is thus especially environmentally compatible. The combustion of natural gas only produces steam and a small amount of carbon dioxide. The largest advantage of natural gas is that it can be utilised without any chemical conversion. Natural gas as a source of energy has various applications in different areas of the voestalpine Group. On the Linz site, natural gas is used in the hot- and cold-rolling mills as well as for the generation of electricity in the power plant. The main supplier is ECONGas, a company that imports natural gas from Russia and Norway.
