Track Accessories
Nortrak offers a complete line of track accessories including wheel stops, chocks, shock free heads, gage rods, derails, wheel crowders, rerailers, flags, signal bonds and bumping posts.
Derails are safety devices designed to limit the movement of rolling stock beyond a fixed point. Wheels passing over a derail are forced off the track. They are commonly used to protect areas such as loading docks, to prevent cars from rolling out of an industrial track onto the mainline and to protect track crews when they are working. The derail can be removed when travel into a restricted area is required.

Size
Derails are manufactured in five sizes to fit rail sections from 40 lb. to 136 lb.. To determine your correct size measure the distance from the top of a tie to the top of the rail head - the distance in inches is the derail size. Improperly sized derails may not function properly.
Direction
Derails are designed to derail cars to the left or the right, generally away from other tracks, buildings or electrical installations. Universal derails are also available.
Special equipment
Connecting rods, stands, wheel crowders, locks or flags must be ordered separately.
Nortrak bumping posts are all steel fabricated triangular units designed to carry impact loads from the post to the track without damage to either. Various types of bumping post are available to meet different needs.
Signal bonds are conductor cables with special connectors to attach the cable to the rail to ensure electrical continuity where the rail is used as the conductor for electrical control. To order signal bonds specify the type of bond, length of cable and size of cable. The three type available are punch bonds, plug bonds and welded bonds.
