voestalpine Nortrak pours its 10,000th manganese casting in Decatur, IL

13 February 2015 |

On January 23, 2015, Nortrak’s foundry in Decatur, IL poured its 10,000th manganese casting.

This was a WBM frog to be installed in a #8 single crossover for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. Since being acquired by Nortrak in 2009, the Decatur foundry has been expanded and substantially upgraded to improve lead times on components that are critical to the railway industry. This facility provides Nortrak with a unique ability to control the entire supply chain for special trackwork, including Buy America compliant manganese castings, ductile iron plates and plastic pads.
