KamPa Dampers in track
KamPa International Inc. (KamPa) and voestalpine Nortrak Inc. (Nortrak) announced a partnership today to provide North American freight and passenger railroads with rail dampers and noise control components. The “KamPa by Nortrak” partnership will combine KamPa’s patented European technology and noise reduction expertise with Nortrak’s extensive design and manufacturing capabilities.
The scope of the partnership will include the KamPa Damper – a passive tuned device that clamps to the rail and controls broadband railway noise at its source by reducing rail vibration during the passage of a train. The result is a cost effective noise mitigation solution for sensitive locations. The dampers can be applied to ballasted, ballastless and high speed tracks without requiring any drilling of the rail. Other advantages include:
Ease of installation
Simple visual inspection
According to KamPa’s CEO, Paul Kampfraath, ‘Nortrak’s set of competencies fit perfectly with KamPa’s philosophy of strategic partnerships that utilize each party’s complementary strengths.’ Nortrak CEO Dave Millard added ‘“KamPa by Nortrak” provides our North American customers with a noise mitigation tool that is a small fraction of the cost of installing sound barriers, insulated glazing, or additional rail grinding.’
The “KamPa by Nortrak” line will be on display at the NRC-REMSA Conference and Exhibition Jan 8-10 2017 in Boca Raton, FL.
