May 2008: Expo Line Light Rail Contract Awarded

In May 2008 Nortrak was awarded a contract totaling $8.7 million by the Exposition LRT Construction Authority. The contract includes the supply of Embedded and Ballasted Crossovers and Turnouts, Pre-curved Rail, and Spare Parts for the Mid-City/Expo Light Rail Transit Project.

The Expo LRT line is the newest extension of the 62-station Metro Rail system. The 8.5 mile line runs along the Metro-owned Exposition right of way traveling between downtown Los Angles and Culver City. The line is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2010 and is phase 1 of a 2 phase project. Phase 2 is in the environmental stage and would extend the Expo Line from Culver City to the City of Santa Monica.
