A true leader Retires
James (Jim) M. Wilson, General Manager, commenced his retirement on February 1, 2008 after 12 years in a senior leadership role within VAE Nortrak North America, Inc.
Jim will continue to work for Nortrak on a limited basis by assisting with special projects throughout the Company.
Jim came to Nortrak from Butler Manufacturing Company where he had worked in positions of both Human Resources and Plant Management. For the past 12 years, we have been very fortunate to have had the experience and expertise of this exceptional leader, particularly during challenging times which were largely due to the growth of the Company through acquisitions
When Jim first came to Nortrak, he was assigned to our Birmingham plant as General Manager. He quickly turned the plant around with his discipline and attention to detail, as well as by bringing organization and direction to the facility and putting his focus on efficiencies as well as full utilization of capacities.
In January of 2004, Nortrak made the acquisition of four Meridian plants, two being located in Chicago. Right after the closing of the transaction, Jim was asked to lead the closing of the Washington State Street plant. He did this task in a remarkable timeframe and successfully integrated all operations in Chicago into just one location at State Street.
Shortly thereafter, Jim was asked to assist in the turnaround of our Cheyenne plant. Jim focused that plant on servicing our customers, brought discipline, organization and a strong sense of urgency on what the plant needed to do to increase profitability. Yet another success!
Jim continued on as General Manager of both Chicago and Birmingham until his retirement on February 1st. Jim’s ability to run a profitable manufacturing plant has helped bring Nortrak to where it is today…not only the leader in trackwork products but also an efficient, organized and profitable company.
Jim has had a remarkable career with Nortrak and we highly value his contribution to the success of our company. He is also a friend of many in the organization and will always remain a true Nortrak companion.
We extend our sincere thanks and best wishes to Jim and his wife, as he begins to experience retirement.
