October 2009: VAE Nortrak successful Track Material provider for Charlevoix Touring Train

Chemin de fer de Charlevoix gets under way this 2009 with an 18-month track rehabilitation project of the Charlevoix Touring Train that will make way for a touring train linking Québec City and La Malbaie. This $15.4 million contract was granted to Services ferroviaires SEMA Inc., a front-runner in maintenance and repairs of railway bridges and culverts in Eastern Canada. Services ferroviaires SEMA Inc. has the mandate to carry out several projects on the 144-kilometer section of track between Québec City and Clermont, including rebuilding bridges and culverts and replacing over 19 kilometers of rails. VAE Nortrak is the sole supplier of track materials for this project supplying rail, OTM, (Other Track Materials), and ties. Nortrak representative Norman Noiles, Regional Sales Manager will be the on-site representative throughout the duration of this project which involves unloading and installation of rails along the right-of-way.

Chemin de fer de Charlevoix is part of the vision of the Le Massif de Charlevoix; a tourism and recreation project representing a $230 million investment between now and 2013. Beyond the touring train and rail shuttle, the project includes close to 400 lodging units, of which there will be a 150-room bioclimatic hotel as well as a 500-seat multifunctional venue.
