October 2008: Metrolink Awarded

In October 2008, VAE Nortrak was awarded a contract totaling $10.5 million by Metrolink (Southern California Regional Rail Authority). The contract includes the supply of Ballasted Concrete Tie Turnouts and Crossovers ranging from No. 10’s to No. 24’s. These turnouts include several of Nortrak’s technology products; Welded Boltless Spring Frogs, Hollow Steel Tie (HST), Blue Rods, Rotary Assist, and Concrete Ties. This trackwork is being used for the Orange County Line Service Expansion Project which will increase Metrolink’s Orange line service capacity from 68 trains to 126 trains almost doubling its current service from Laguna Niguel to Fullerton. The increased service is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2010.
