March 2004: Birmingham Plants Initiate Lean Manufacturing Training

Both the Tarrant and Irondale facilities will be engaging in Lean Manufacturing training for all associates. This training will familiarize the workforce with the lean concepts and will set the stage for a progression of manufacturing process improvements. In addition to the classes in lean manufacturing concepts, management associates will be trained in work place organization, Kiazen principles, total production maintenance, and advanced management skills. These classes are made possible through a grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA). The training will commence in May and will conclude in October.
