In August of 2005 Nortrak was awarded a $5M CDN contract from GO transit in Toronto for the renewal of special trackwork in the Union Station in downtown Toronto. This was soon after expanded to a 5 year contract totaling approximately $20M CDN and subsequently accelerated to a 42 month completion, all part of a $400M CDN multi year infrastructure improvement program. The contract entails the design fabrication and delivery of 50 each No.11-115RE Double Slip Switches, 40 each No.11-115RE Turnouts and 5 Diamond Crossings. The Double Slips and the Turnouts are designed with modified geometry giving a longer centerline radius in the switch area allowing for increased speed and also incorporate the Nortrak Hollow Switch Tie System with the Composite Fiber "Blue Rod".
The first assembly was delivered in April of 2006 and was recently installed in the Union Station using the Geizmar, Fassetta PEM-LEM System which will be used for all removals of existing trackwork and installations of Nortrak switches throughout this project.
