altrix®
altrix®-plates are combound materials and are produced as two- or three-layer plates acc. to the roll cladding process developed by voestalpine. The base material ensures high toughness and good weldability. The cladding material combines extreme hardness and high wear resistance in hardened condition.
Typical applications of altrix® multi-layer plates are dredging pipes, mold plates for plows, wear plates in mill housings and mold manufacturing, paddles in log-washers, chutes, runners and transfer components in sand, gravel and cement industries as well as lateral claddings in crusher units.
Advantages
- Longer service life: As a result of the higher hardness across the entire thickness, altrix®-plates provide an obviously longer service life as compared to other wear-resistant steels.
- High resistance against fracture: The high toughness of the base material guarantees a high resistance against fracture of the compund material.
- Smooth surface: Compared to other manufacturing methods the smooth surface of altrix®-plates enables excellent flowability and largely prevents caking.
- Best weldabilty: The altrix® base material ist optimized for easy welding in the delivered condition as well as in the hardened condition.
- Easy fixing methods: Direct welding to the back of the altrix® base material; drilling of fixing holes
Steel grades and dimensions
Steel grades:
The standard base material for altrix® multi-layer plates is similar to steel grade S235 according to EN 10025-2.
As hardenable overlay material different grades are available. In hardened condition hardness up to 66 HRC is achieveable.
altrix®-plates are supplied in as-rolled condition.
Dimensions:
| Plate thickness: | 7 - 80 mm |
| Plate width: | max. 3,600 mm |
| Plate length: | max. 12,750 mm |
| Weight: | min. 10 mt per order item |
| Weight/piece: | max. 6.3 mt each single plate |
Individual fracture and wear resistance requirements can be accommodated by providing various layer combinations. 50% base material and 50% overlay material of total thickness is a common combination for two layers and 33-34-33% (hard - tough - hard) for three layers.
