Slabs

The basis for the production of high-quality heavy plates are excellent slabs. We procure continuously cast slabs from our top steel mill at voestalpine Stahl GmbH in Linz.

Steel with a high purity is produced by the LD process, with subsequent metallurgical and vacuum treatment.

Process models guarantee the precise chemical composition. The roller gap in the casting machine is adjusted by using soft reduction to minimize center segregation.

High-level automation of the casting process, including computer aided quality control, ensures optimum surface quality of the slabs.
