Shearing lines

After the plates have attained the proper flatness, they are transported to the stamping and marking machines. Stamping with letters and numbers can be made in six lines and colour coding is possible in three lines.

The first shear is a double edge trimmer in which both plate edges are cut to the desired width. The plate is exactly positioned by laser and moved step by step through the trimming shear.

The next unit in line is the transverse shear where the plate is cut to the proper length and samples are taken. The plate samples are automatically put into a sorting bin and sent to the sample and testing shop.

The ultrasonic testing units check the internal quality of the finished plate. Testing covers 100% of the plate surface. The results are documented and automatically compared with the specifications. This method provides for precise monitoring of the internal quality of our plates.

Subsequently the plates are transported directly to the finished product storage.

Plates in thicknesses over 50 mm are transported to the flame cutting line. They are lifted off the thick plate cooling bed and put in stacks. After they are cooled to room temperature, manual ultrasonic testing is carried out to detect internal defects, particularly laminations. Three numerically controlled flame cutting machines are in operation to cut plates and samples.

Our plates are transported to our customers by boat, rail and truck. Worldwide shipping of the plates begins in the company harbour on the Danube and from there either via the Rhine-Main-Danube Channel to Rotterdam or on the Danube to the Black Sea.
