The production philosophy of voestalpine Giesserei Traisen GmbH is to manufacture castings exclusively based on orders. The demands of our customers are put into practice in minute detail, including material developments to meet special customer requirements. The scope of delivery includes roughly 120 different chemical compositions, which is a wide variety of products ranging from unalloyed to high-alloyed steel castings. Solidification simulation as early as the planning phase enables us to create valuable models helping us to identify critical areas in the castings. voestalpine Giesserei Traisen GmbH manufactures steel castings at weights ranging from 20 kg to 10.000 kg. The parts can be delivered in rough condition, pre-machined, final machined and ready for installation, or as completely assembled components. Total production in the area of steel castings amounts to roughly 5.000 tons per year. Two medium-frequency induction furnaces (1.5 and 4 tons) and two eight-ton electric arc furnaces are used to melt the steel. As secondary metallurgy equipment an AOD converter is used in production of highest-quality steels with outstanding properties.
