In April 1945 the plant was bombed and severely damage and much of the equipment has been destroyed totally. After finalization of the treaty the plant became nationalized as a member of the “Austrian Alpine Mining Association” under the name of “Stahl und Temperguß AG, formerly Fischer”.

When the Austrian Mining Association, the Austrian United Steel Industry (VOEST), Böhler & Co AG and Schöller-Bleckmann, merged in 1973, the foundry became a member of this new group under the name VOEST-ALPINE AG. At the time, the consolidated group, employing 72,000 with an additional 4,000 working abroad, reached a turnover of approximately 1.6 billion Euros (22 billion Schillings).
